A security guard with a prior conviction, yesterday appeared before a city court again, charged with damage to private property.
The courtroom of Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan heard that on September 30, at North/East La Penitence, Georgetown, Neville Haynes, 39, of 419 North/East La Penitence, unlawfully and maliciously inflicted damage to the value of $107,600, on motor car, PVV 3625, which is the private property of Otis Khan, also known as Clive. Haynes, who appeared unrepresented in court, pleaded not guilty.
Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones, who did not reveal the facts pertaining to the matter, had no objection to Haynes being placed on substantial bail. Jones told the court that the accused had a prior conviction, and had served a sentence in prison for wounding a person.
The chief magistrate subsequently granted bail to Haynes in the sum of $30,000. The matter was adjourned until October 17 for statements.
