An all-round effort from Rayon Joseph propelled Sales Department to a 17 run victory over Distribution/Warehouse when the Banks DIH Limited (Ltd) GT Beer Inter-Department Tape Ball Cricket Championship continued on Tuesday.
Asked to bat first under clear skies at the Thirst Park venue, Joseph struck a belligerent and unbeaten 79 highlighted by eight sixes and three fours to propel his side to an imposing 155-3 from their allotted 12 overs.
Joseph was assisted by the duo of Romesh Persaud and Shabbir Shameer who scored 19 runs each
A. Bolt was the pick of a disappointing effort from the Distribution/Warehouse bowlers with figures of 1-44 from his three over spell.
Joseph then returned with the ball to grab 2-20 in his three over spell to help restrict the opponent to 138-9. One of his scalps was top scorer and opening batsman S. John who blasted his way to 40 runs.
John’s knock was showcased by five sixes and a four with 28 of his runs coming in the first over of the chase against Persaud before being bowled by Joseph in his second over.
S. Barker aided the dynamic Joseph grabbing 4-23 from his spell. The next best scorer with 16 was H. Meusa.
The tourney which continues today at the same location with another doubleheader, is being contested in a group format.
In the opening of fixture at 17:00hrs, Trisco/Novelty will oppose Water Plant while Linden will match skills Distribution/Warehouse from 19:00hrs.
Following the end of the round-robin stage, the championship will progress to the elimination stage.
