Children residing in the communities of Charles-town and Albouystown are a step closer to benefitting from literacy programmes in their areas thanks to a monetary donation from Toolsie Persaud Limited to the Guyana Book Founda-tion.
The contribution of $303,200 was handed over by Toolsie Persaud’s General Manager Ray Sukhnandan to Adminis-trative Coordinator of the Guyana Book Foundation Deborah Ramotar-Skeete yesterday.
Ramotar-Skeete expressed her gratitude to the company for supporting the literacy programmes, while further expressing her hopes that the partnership would be the first of many to come.
In a press release, Sukhnandan noted that although the company frequently makes donations of this nature, this one in particularly was special because it targeted children in the community where the company’s main branch is located. He further expressed his hope that the donation would go a far way in promoting literacy in the areas, while describing it as the “foundation for development.”
