Dear Editor,
The second presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump was most disappointing. As I listened to Donald Trump I shuddered to think what could be the likely outcomes were he to win the presidency of the most powerful office not only in the United States but in the world.
I felt sorry for Mrs. Clinton who in my opinion is by far the superior candidate for the White House. It is not easy to debate someone like Donald Trump who simply lacks debating skills especially when it comes to matters of logic and substance. He lacks sophistication and elegance and there is a degree of arrogance and meanness unbefitting of a presidential hopeful.
If there is one thing that the debate has brought to the surface in American politics, it is the value of political morality. A lot of debating time was spent on mudslinging and character assassination rather than focusing on the way forward in addressing the several issues facing the American people such as high levels of unemployment, declining real wages and the terrorist threat among others.
It will be interesting to see how the politics would evolve in the period ahead of the election but as more and more unsavory details of Donald Trump’s personal life emerge, the more difficult will it be for him to win the confidence and trust of the American people to manage the affairs of the world’s greatest and most powerful nation.
