Keneisha Sim, the third-year Biology student of the University of Guyana who was struck down by a speeding car on Monday as she attempted to cross the East Coast Demerara public road, has regained consciousness and her condition is listed as stable.
Sim, 19, had been on her way to her part time job at the Qualfon Call Centre at Goedverwagting, when the accident occurred.
A minibus had stopped to allow Sim to cross the road, but as she was doing so, a car reportedly overtook the minibus and struck her.
The young woman was immediately picked up and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where she was admitted in an unconscious state.
Stabroek News has since been reliably informed that Sim has regained consciousness and her condition is listed as stable.
The driver of the car has since been taken into custody by police.
