An accident on the Herstelling, East Bank Demerara public road on Tuesday morning, during the rain, left three persons hospitalised and several others injured, after the driver lost control of the minibus they were travelling in.
Injured are Jessica Saywanauth, 16, Jing Hing Su, 52, and Leonard Henry, 41, the conductor of the bus. The injured persons were quickly rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre for immediate medical attention.
Passengers from the bus told Stabroek News, the bus was coming around the turn when they felt the bus “wobbling,” as the driver tried to apply brakes but the bus kept sliding since the road was wet. As a result they said the bus slammed into a utility pole and landed on the conductor’s side.
Subsequent to the accident, ranks from the Providence Police Station responded quickly and controlled the traffic.
The driver of the bus, BVV 901, is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
