Dear Editor,
I’m appealing to the Ministry of Public Infrastructure and to City Hall to put speed bumps at the intersection of Forshaw and Peter Rose Sts as quickly as possible. The 6:30 am accident yesterday morning at Vlissengen and Eping Avenue was a travesty as the minibus was apparently being chased by a cop’s car which disappeared when the accident occurred.
Residents of Forshaw Street have been asking for speed bumps at Forshaw Street and Peter Rose for years because mad drivers use this street like a racetrack. We all heard the orange coloured minibus flying up Forshaw at a ridiculous speed, and none of us were really surprised when we heard the inevitable Screech! Blam! The orange minibus had flown across Peter Rose, and then Irving, and pitched a greyish coloured vehicle travelling on Vlissengen right off the road and up against the construction fence where the new KFC is going up.
High speed motorbikes, minibuses, cars, all use Forshaw Street as a racetrack, speeding up and down the street, and across the bridge between Irving and Vlissengen in either direction, even though the bridge is a one-way.
We’re all put at serious risk, especially the children from the school, and our elderly folk. Please, let this be the last unnecessary accident residents have to be victims of, witness, or hear at the Vlissengen-Eping, Irving-Forshaw, Forshaw-Peter Rose junctions!! Enough is enough!
Yours faithfully,
