The badly decomposed body of a man that was discovered on Wednesday afternoon at Craig Sea Dam, East Bank Demerara has been positively identified by relatives and the police are awaiting an autopsy to determine if his death was due to foul play.
The dead man was identified as 53-year-old Infant Forrester, called “Bolt and Nut,” a farmer of Timehri, East Bank Demerara.
Stabroek News understands that the discovery was made around 2pm on Wednesday by a fisherman.
An alarm was raised and the police were summoned to conduct investigations. However, due to the advanced state of decomposition, the police were unable to determine if the body bore any marks of violence.
Speaking to Stabroek News yesterday, the dead man’s son, Dexter Forrester, said he last saw his father about one month ago. He explained that it was customary for the elder Forrester to go missing for weeks and return and as a result no missing person report was made to the police.
“My father use to deh all over the place, drinking and working and he does come back,” Dexter said, while adding that some three weeks ago he learnt that the man had fallen ill and was taken to the Diamond Hospital. He had been admitted but was subsequently discharged.
“I hear the man he use to work with take him there and by time I go the hospital they say he did just get discharge and I couldn’t find him,” Dexter said.
He related that he was home on Wednesday when he received a message from a neighbour informing him of the discovery. However, before he arrived at the scene, the body had already been taken to the Lyken Funeral Parlour.
A post-mortem examination is scheduled for today.
