A senior citizen was left traumatised yesterday after two gun-toting bandits attacked her shortly after she left the Bourda Post Office.
Stabroek News was told by witnesses that the elderly woman was walking along Charlotte Street shortly after visiting the nearby post office, when two men rode up alongside her on a CG motorcycle and relieved her of her handbag.
An alarm was raised, which saw several men from a nearby barbershop rushing to the woman’s rescue. During this time, one of the men reportedly discharged several rounds, which ultimately prevented the public-spirited citizens from stopping the bandits from fleeing with the woman’s bag as they made good their escape up the one way street.
The police were called in and the woman was taken to the police station, where a report was made.
