A Providence, East Bank Demerara miner was arrested by the police during the wee hours of Saturday and is currently assisting with investigations following the discovery of a 9 mm pistol and a quantity of ammunition.
The discovery was made around 00:30 hrs while the 34-year-old suspect was standing in a yard at Warlock, East Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
According to a police press release, ranks acting on information received swooped down at the location where the suspect was and saw him standing in his girlfriend’s yard.
It is alleged that he dropped an object when the police arrived, which was retrieved and found to be the unlicensed firearm with 12 matching rounds.
