-as Diamond Sec., Richard Ishmael, Kingston High and St Mary’s record first round wins
Chase Academy recorded their second victory of the Guyana Cricket Board’s National Secondary School Cricket League (NSSCL) yesterday when they defeated Bishops’ High School in their second round clash at the Guyana National Industrial Corporation ground.
Batting first, Bishops’ High School were dismissed for 115 in 28.5 overs with Troy Persaud’s 35 the top-score.
Sachin Ramroop supported with 22 as Dwain Dick bagged 5/16 while Tyrese Trescot and Sachin Singh took 2/14 and 2/16 respectively.
In reply, Chase Academy coasted to 116/1 with Singh 79 not out.
At the Everest Cricket Club ground, Diamond Secondary scored 197/3 from 30 overs with 12-year old Mavendra Dindyal’s 82 the top score. The pint-sized opener stroked 11 boundaries and received support from Akeem Hendricks who made 44. Shoaib Roop took 2/22 for Golden Grove Secondary, who then crashed to 72 all out in reply.
Dindyal completely bamboozled the Golden Grove batsmen bagging five wickets for four runs.
At the Demerara Cricket Club ground, Queenstown, Queen’s College restricted Richard Ishmael Secondary to 105/6 from their allotted 20 overs with Juspice Jones’s 24 the top score while Tariq Hendricks supported with 20. Bowling for Queen’s College, Amos Sarwan took 2/14.
In reply, Queens College fell short reaching 98-9 off their 20 overs.
Jones, 3/9 and Brandon Ramnarine, 2/18 were the wicket takers.
At the Georgetown Cricket Club ground, Kingston High School shot out School of Nations for paltry 41 in 10.2 overs.
Bowling for Kingston High School, Mark Sukhai bagged 5/5 and Meshack Softleigh 4/4.
Kingston High School hit off the runs in 6.7 overs, finishing on 43-2 with Meshack Softleigh making 16.
At the Muslim Youth Organisation ground, St Mary’s thumped Marian Academy by seven wickets. Batting first Marian Academy were routed for 42 in 10.4 overs. Akeem Christmas was the pick of the bowlers with 4/15 while Alex Rogers took 2/1 and Kester Mc Allister had 2/8. In reply, St Mary’s galloped to the target in 3.4 overs; finished on 45/3 with Steffon Wilson making an unbeaten 18.
The NSSCL continues today with Brickdam Secondary against St Stanislaus College at the Demerara Cricket Club ground, Richard Ishmael Secondary against Kingston High School at the Georgetown Cricket Club ground and Hope Secondary against Golden Grove Secondary at the Enterprise Cricket Club ground.
