Despite being tightlipped about his involvement with an Elite League club, Canadian Hall of Famer Alex Bunbury officially confirmed he has been appointed President of the Tucville based outfit Fruta Conquerors.
Bunbury during an earlier press conference revealed that he will be a part of an Elite League team for the impending season. Asked which team he will be connected to, Bunbury during an invited comment with Stabroek Sports, said “It is the Fruta Conquerors, and I’m extremely excited about leading this historic club”.
Asked about the factors which influenced the decision, and in what capacity he will be serving the organisation, the founder of the Alex Bunbury Sports & Academics Academy said, “I really like their youth system, and the potential the entire organisation has…it will be as President and eventually ownership”.
Meanwhile, questioned if he would be interested in coaching the Golden Jaguars following Head-coach Jamal Shabazz’s announcement that he will be leaving the position, Bunbury said, “Only if needed in an interim role”.
Asked if he possesses the necessary qualifications to take up the post, Bunbury said, “I have my B Canadian licence”.
Bunbury further said that his international experiences, as well as his winning mindset, and leadership qualities are the values he can bring to the table that has been missing from the team for several years.
