Magistrate Judy Latchman, in her ruling at the conclusion of the preliminary inquiry into the charge, stated that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against Hercules for the offence of murder.

She then asked Hercules if he had anything to say in relation to the matter and he stated that he was innocent of the charge.

Hercules opted not to call any witnesses.

Subsequently, the young man was then committed to stand trial at the next practical sitting of the Demerara Assizes.

Both men, who shared the same address, got into an argument and the accused allegedly pulled a knife from his waist and dealt Solomon a stab to the left side of his armpit. Solomon was later pronounced dead on arrival to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was taken for treatment.
