Dear Editor,
I have been a resident of Subryanville for almost 50 years and have always enjoyed the peace and tranquility that goes with a small residential area.
I remember as if it was only yesterday hearing about a school being organised and located at the top of Third Avenue and Sheriff Street and thought at the time that it probably was going to be a small kindergarten catering for toddlers in the area and that was exactly what it was.
Over the years however, it evolved into what it is today Mae’s School, a full blown pre, primary and high school catering for children 3 years to 17 years.
Our mornings and afternoons between the hours of 07:30 to 09:00 am and 2:30 to 4:00 pm from Monday to Friday in Third Avenue, Church Road and Fourth and Second avenues have become a traffic nightmare. Residents leaving for work cannot leave their homes because traffic is blocking their egress.
No one in authority seems to care and despite numerous complaints from affected residents it has all fallen on deaf ears.
Lo and behold, I heard that the same owners of Mae’s School have bought the property at 4th Avenue and Church Road, Subryanville with the sole intention of establishing another school there. I said enough is enough.
Can you imagine what the traffic would be like in the mornings and afternoons?
I am therefore asking the relevant authorities to examine this situation and perhaps come up with an alternative solution.
Yours faithfully,
