The Guyana Telephone and Telegraph (GTT) company continued its long standing partnership with the Guyana Hockey Board (GHB) when it launched the 14th annual GTT national indoor hockey tournament yesterday at GT&T Brickdam headquarters.
The event, which runs from October 31st-November 5th, will be staged at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.
Categories to be contested are men’s first and second division and the women’s Open.
In the men’s division one category, two-time defending champs Hikers, will face stern competition from seven-time winner Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) and three-time champs Old Fort.
In the women’s section, 10-time victors and seven-time defending champions Pizza Hut GCC, is the firm favorite in the division which features Hikers, Old Fort and Spartans.
GTT Public Relations Officer, Allison Parker, yesterday presented a cheque to the GHB on behalf of the company.
According to a GHB release, Parker praised the association for the manner it has managed the tournament for the past 15 years.
“President of the Guyana Hockey Board, Philip Fernandes expressed his association’s great appreciation of GTT and expressed their happiness to be associated with a quality company and brand.” The release stated.
