The sixth annual Guyana Softball Cup tournament organised by Guyana Floodlights Softball Cricket Association (GFSCA) will bowl off this weekend at the Demerara Cricket Club ground, Queenstown.
The competition which spans three days will see teams from Canada, the United States of America, and Guyana competing for cricket softball supremacy.
The tournament, which will be played in the Open and Masters categories, will see matches being played simultaneously at various grounds in the city.
Beginning Friday 12 games will be played simultaneously at the Guyana Defence Force, Guyana Police Force, Malteenoes Sports Club, DCC and the Gandhi Youth Organisation grounds.
The second round of 12 games will commence at 1 pm at the same grounds while on November 5, starting at 9 am, the final 12 preliminary games will be played with the semi- finals set for 1pm at Eve Leary and DCC.
On November 6 at the DCC ground, the Masters and Open Finals will take place along with three exhibition 10/10 female games.
The female teams are Mike’s Wellwoman, Trophy Stall Angels, 4R Lioness and Blue Divas.
The day’s event will commence at 10 am.
Over two million dollars in cash and incentives are up at stake. Ticket cost $1,000, and will be sold at the gate. Spectators are asked to keep their half tickets because of the many prizes which will be up for grabs.
Four persons can win a trip for themselves and partner all expenses trips to Baganara (1 night), Kaieteur/Orinduik Falls (1day), Arrowpoint (1 night), and Aruwai Resort White H20 (1 night).
There are ten hampers to 10 lucky ticket holders.
Additionally there will be many giveaways to spectators from sponsors at the final.
The sponsors for the tournament are Stag, Rubis Guyana, Trophy Stall, Survival Group of Business, Steve Jewellery, Clear Waters, Busta Soft Drinks, Rohan Auto Spares, A&R Jewanram Printery, W.J Enterprise and Mikes Pharmacy.
