Defending champion St. Angela’s and West Ruimveldt stormed into the quarterfinals of the fifth annual Court’s Pee-Wee Primary Schools football tournament yesterday.
St. Angela’s made light work of newcomers Mae’s 5-0 with Seon Cato netting a hat-trick in the eighth, 16th and 24th minute while Antwoine Vincent netted twice in the 18th and 28th minute.
Next, West Ruimveldt dismissed St. Gabriel’s 3-0, with Tyrese Payne, Tyrese Jeffrey and Trevor Bendt on target in the sixth, 19th and 21st minute respectively.
There were also a number of upsets with F.E. Pollard edging 2014 winner Stella Maris 1-0 through a Jonathan Dos Santos 32nd minute strike while St. Agnes needled giants South Ruimveldt 1-0 through David Xavier’s 19th minute strike.
Then, St. Stephens’s downed traditional heavyweight Tucville 1-0 through a Jequan Cole 10th minute goal.
In other results, 2012 titlist Marian Academy edged Winfer Gardens 1-0 with Nicholas Alphonso scoring the lone goal in the 20th minute. Meanwhile, 2013 champ St. Pius squeaked past Redeemer Primary 1-0.
Tyler Lyle separated the teams with ninth minute strike.
North Georgetown sealed their berth to the next round after overcoming St. Margaret’s 1-0. Shilo Adams made his presence felt with a 31st minute effort.
The quarterfinal round is set for November 5th at the same venue.
