WJ Enterprise is the latest sponsor of this weekend’s Guyana Softball Cup 6 championship following the presentation of a cheque to the Guyana Floodlights Softball Cricket Association yesterday at the company’s Regent Street location.
The presentation was made by WJ Enterprise representative Nasheena Narine, to GFSCA president Ramchand Ragbeer.
According to a press release, Narine said the company’s management was happy to be a part of the prestigious tournament adding that she was confident that the GFSCA would stage another highly successful tournament.
This is the third year that WJ Enterprise has supported the annual softball extravaganza and GFSCA president Ragbeer said that he was grateful to the company for its continued support.
Organising secretary of the GFSCA Wayne Jones said that an exciting tournament was assured as the overseas-based teams were coming with the intention of toppling the top local teams including regal, winners of both the Open and Masters competitions last year.
The tournament, which has attracted a total of 24 teams in the Male Open and Male Masters categories, will bowl off Friday morning and conclude Sunday at the DCC ground, Queenstown. Admission to the final is $1,000.
Teams from Guyana, Canada, Florida and New York will compete in the three-day competition.
At stake are lucrative prizes and some massive trophies donated by Ramesh Sunich’s Trophy Stall, Bourda Market.
Attractive prizes and giveaways are also at stake for lucky spectators.
Two tickets, compliments of Survival Travel Agency, will be on offer for trips to Baganara, Arrowpoint, Aruwai and Kaieteur/Orinduik falls while 10 hampers will also be up for grabs.
The tournament has attracted corporate support from Stag Beer, Rubis Guyana, Trophy Stall, Survival Group of Business, Steve’s Jewellery, Clear Waters, Busta Soft Drinks, Rohan Auto Spares, A&R Jewanram Printery, WJ Enterprise and Mike’s Pharmacy.
