National U15 captain Sachin Singh yesterday produced a fine all-round performance to help defending champions Chase Academy defeat Christ Church Secondary in the North Georgetown zone final of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) National Secondary School Cricket League (NSSCL) at the Georgetown Cricket Club ground, Bourda.
Batting first Chase Academy scored 230-5 from 30 overs with Singh hitting 115 off 100 balls, his second century of the competition.
Singh struck 15 fours and one six and received support from Ashmead Nedd who scored 62 off 50 balls with six fours and one six.
Singh and Nedd added 135 runs for the third wicket while Gorrick Persaud chipped in with 22. Reynaldo Mohamed took 3/38 for Christ Church, who, in reply folded for 45 in 14.2 overs as Singh returned with the ball to bag 6/14 and Nedd 2/16 bowling for Chase Academy.
In the West Coast Demerara zone final at Zeeburg, Saraswat Secondary defeated SVN College in a low scoring affair. SVN College made 73 all out in 19.2 overs with Ajita Persaud the only batsman to reach double figures. He scored 14. Bowling for Saraswat, Kevin Latchoo took 4/18 and Rajesh Budhram 2/4.
Saraswat, in reply lost six wickets before reaching the 74 runs required for victory in the 16th over. Kevin Latchoo made 15 not out while Ajita Persaud grabbed 2/19 in a losing cause for SVN College.
The NSSCL continues today with the East Georgetown zone final at GCC between St Joseph’s High and Tutorial High starting 10:30 hours.
