The sixth annual International softball cricket tournament organised by the Guyana Floodlights Softball Cricket Association (GFSCA) will bowl off tomorrow and end Sunday at the Demerara Cricket Club ground in Queenstown.
Teams from Canada, New York, Florida and Guyana will compete over the next three days for cricket softball supremacy.
As usual, the tournament will be contested in the Open and Masters categories and play will begin at 9am tomorrow with 11 games being played simultaneously at the Guyana Defence Force, Guyana Police Force Ground, Malteenoes Cricket Club ground, DCC and the Gandhi Youth Organisation grounds.
The second round of matches which entails 11 more games will get underway at 1 pm at the same grounds.
On Saturday from 9am, the final 11 preliminary games will be played with the semi-finals billed for 1pm at the Police Sports Club and DCC grounds.
On Sunday at the DCC ground only, the Masters and Open finals will be contested along with three exhibition 10/10 female games.
The female teams are Mikes Wellwoman, Trophy Stall Angels, 4R Lioness and Blue Divas. Sunday’s event starts at 10 am.
Over two million dollars in cash and incentives are at stake. While admission is free on the first two days, tickets will cost $1,000 for the finals on Sunday and will be sold at the gate.
Children 13 years and under will be admitted free.
Spectators for Sunday’s finals are asked to keep their half tickets because persons can win trips for themselves and partner to Baganara (1 night), Kaieteur/Orinduik Falls (1 day), Arrowpoint (1 night), and Aruwai Resort White H20 (1 night).
All expenses for the four couples from Georgetown to destination and back will be paid.
With the half tickets persons can win one of 10 hampers that are at stake.
Additionally, there will be many giveaways to spectators from the sponsors at the finals.
