Tutorial High School won the East Georgetown zone after they upset defending champions St Joseph’s High yesterday as the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) National Secondary School Cricket League (NSSCL) continued yesterday at the Georgetown Cricket Club ground, Bourda.
Sent in, St Joseph’s High scored 144/9 from their 30 overs with Asif Daniels top scoring with 47 off 63 balls. He struck five fours and received support from Ameer Singh who chipped in with 25 off 32 balls. Bowling for Tutorial, Zion Gray took 2/27 and Joel Spooner 2/29.
In reply, Tutorial’s number three batsman Devon Allen scored 37 and Osapho Green 29, Tutorial winning with 7.3 overs remaining.
At the Demerara Cricket Club ground, Queenstown, Tucville scored 112 all out in 9.2 overs with Godfrey Phillips, 47 the top scorer. Akeemo Marques bagged 7/32 and Akeem Williams 2/36.
Lodge, in reply, reached 113/6 in 21.2 overs. Thurston Gordon top scored with 35 while Akeem Williams supported with 32.
Bowling for Tucville, Romeo Brown picked up 2/22.
Lodge Secondary will now face Charlestown in the South Georgetown zone final after the latter defeated Central High in their semi-final encounter.
Over at the Tuschen Community Centre ground, Parika Salem Secondary defeated Everest Academy by a whopping 202 runs.
Batting first Parika reached 262/7 in 26 overs with Wazim Mohamed smashing 95. He struck 13 fours and one maximum and received support from Bashker Baldeo and Loochnaninl Rambharat with 32 and 22 runs respectively. Bowling for Everest Academy, Azim Mohamed bagged 5/17.
In reply, Everest Academy were routed for 57 in just 12.4 overs. Real Austin’s 30 was the top score while Mohamed completed his fine all round performance by claiming five wickets for just 15 runs which included a hat trick.
Today the South Georgetown zone final will take place between Lodge Secondary and Charlestown Secondary at Bourda from 10:30 hours while action continues on the East Coast Demerara as Enmore Secondary tackles Golden Grove Secondary at Enterprise starting 12:00 noon.
