Lately, I have been having lots of inquires about how to choose a house plant. Well, it’s quite easy once you know what you want.
When choosing a house plant most people would select a plant which has the right appearance, shape and price instead of a plant that is most suitable for the condition in their homes.
It is essential to choose a plant wisely, taking into consideration the space and light it would receive in its new home.
Here are some simple guidelines to follow:
- Each plant has its own likes and dislikes. Information is just a click away. Once you decide on a particular plant, Google the name and read up on it. This will help you in your final decision.
- New plants may get ‘homesick’ even in good condition. This is known as the plant is going through shock when you move it from one place to another. Allow it to acclimatise. You may even lose a few leaves in the process before it adapts.
- The secret to success in most cases depends on the light it receives, so place your plant in a well-lit spot. Moist air is also vital and you should mist the leaves daily.
Remember a plant must be able to flourish in the home you provide for it.
Until next week, Happy Gardening.
