Hikers will oppose arch-rivals Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) in the men’s first division final while Pizza Hut GCC will oppose Woodpecker Hikers in the women’s final following semi-final wins Saturday in the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph-sponsored national indoor hockey championships.
In the semi-final played at the National Gymnasium, Hikers whipped the national junior male team 9-1.
Robert France led the rout with a hat-trick while Aroydy Branford scored a double.
Randy Hope, Jamarj Assanah, Andrew Stewart and Devin Munroe were the other goal scorers.
In the other semi-final GCC edged Old Fort 3-2. After losing their earlier group meeting 3-4, GCC won through goals from Mark Sargeant,
Kevin Spencer and Devin Hooper respectively while Jason DeSantos scored Old Fort’s two goals.
In the women’s semi-final, Pizza Hut GCC thrashed Old Fort 5-0. Marzana Fiedtkou netted twice while Aliyah Gordon, Gabriella Xavier and Trisha Woodroffe were the other goal scorers.
Woodpecker Hikers, behind a double from Nicole Eastman, downed Spartans 4-2 with Charlyn Elliot and Rushell Matthius the other goal scores.
For the losing team, Sarah Klautky and Madison Fernandes were the goal scorers.
In the second division semi-final matchups, GCC Pitbulls breezed past St. Stanislaus College 6-2 while Old Fort defeated St Stanislaus 3-1.
