With the former Mayor of Georgetown Hamilton Green set to celebrate his 82nd birth anniversary this month, long standing football coordinator Lennox Arthur will be staging a 9-Aside Inter-Ward/Village Football Tournament on Sunday November 20th.
The event which will be contested in an elimination format, will be staged at the Den Amstel Community ground, and will feature 24 teams emanating from Georgetown, East Bank, East Coast and the West Bank of Demerara, respectively.
In the opening matchup at 15:00hrs, Golden Grove tackles Kuru-Kururu, while Golden Warriors will battle Mocha from 15:30hrs, Wales will oppose Grove from 16:00hrs, and Sara Lodge faces off with West Ruimveldt from 16:30hrs.
At 17:00hrs, Vege Boyz locks horns with Road Warrior, while Goed Fortuin engages Sparta Family from 17:30hrs, Jetty Gunners battles E-Field Sophia from 18:00hrs and Stewartville tackles South Sophia from 18:30hrs.
In the final four fixtures, Pouderoyen battle Tucville from 19:00hrs, Crane opposes Alexander Village from 19:30hrs, Uitvlugt locks horns with Herstelling at 20:00hrs and home side Den Amstel matches skills with Soesdyke from 20:30hrs.
Upon the conclusion of the opening round, the event resumes on November 27th at the same venue, with the round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals and the eventual finale.
