A businesswoman and her lover are now dead after they brutally stabbed each other during an argument on Sunday evening at Ekereku Hill Top, Kamarang.
Dead are Kurt Reynolds, 47, of Silverbali Street, Meadow Brook Gardens, and Selima Norton, called ‘Shelly,” 45 of New Providence Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara.
The altercation allegedly occurred around 10 pm on Sunday at a shop that was operated by the couple. A bloodstained double blade knife, suspected to be the murder weapon, was recovered at the scene. The Guyana Police Force, in a statement, said investigations revealed that the couple had an argument over Reynolds’ mismanagement of their business and it escalated into a heated encounter. “During this process, it is alleged that Norton armed herself with a two-bladed knife and inflicted two stabs to Reynolds’ abdomen and left foot.
Reynolds then allegedly, took away the weapon and stabbed Norton multiple times about her body, after which they both collapsed some distance apart and bled to death,” the statement said.
However, Stabroek News was told that when the police arrived at the scene early yesterday morning, Reynolds was still alive. He later succumbed to his injuries.
The bodies are currently at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home awaiting post-mortem examinations, which are scheduled to be performed tomorrow.
