A West Coast Demerara resident was yesterday afternoon arrested at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri after it was discovered that he had swallowed several packets of cocaine.
The discovery was made around 4:15pm yesterday as the man was about to board a flight destined for the United States of America.
Stabroek News understands that ranks of the Guyana Police Force Narcotics Branch saw him acting in a suspicious manner. He was questioned and searched during which he denied having anything illegal in his possession.
The man was taken to the hospital during which an x-ray revealed the packets of cocaine in his stomach.
Up to late last evening, he was admitted as a patient at the Georgetown Public Hopsital (GPH) under police guard.
