Two wins for West Berbice

The Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) TENELEC Inc.1st Division 50 Over competition continued this past week with games across the Ancient County.

At Blairmont Estate Ground, West Berbice beat the hosts by 39 runs, despite being bowled out for 152 in 28.4 overs, with Arthley Bailey 37, Rafael Estriado 31, Steffon Adams 25, and Renison Mitchell 21, starring with the bat.

Shabeer Bask took 4 for 19, and National Under-19 player Parmanand Ramdhan 3 for 13, bowling for Blairmont, who in reply, fell for 121 in 32.1 overs with National youth player Javid Karim scoring 24.

Over at the Port Mourant Ground, the home team batted first, and were restricted to 183 in 39.5 overs. Arif Chan top-scored with 62, while in-form batsman Chanderpaul Hemraj (44) and Andy Mohan (22) were also among the runs.

Bowling for UCCA, Naem Yacoob ended with 3 for 18, and Lakeram Latchman 2 for 41, but in the end their team lost by 68 runs after being dismissed for 125, thanks to Hemraj (3-20), Chan (3-25), and Dimitri Cameron (2-25).

Over at Bush Lot, West Berbice completed their second victory, winning by 9 wickets against Bush Lot. Defending a paltry 126 off 33 overs, after Andrew Dutchin claimed 4-13, with only skipper Rajbance Hemraj (34) and Asgar Mathabeer (24), getting useful contributions.

In reply, the visitors raced to the target in 16.4 overs, with Rafael Estriado top-scoring with 48, while Atherly Bailey and Dutchin scored 24 and 22, respectively.

At the Cumberland ground, Young Warriors beat Edinburgh by 5 wickets. Batting first, Edinburgh made 140 all out in 32 overs, with Jamal Andrews 55, D. Seepersaud 32 and M. Singh 25, leading the way.

Bowling for YWCC, the damage was done by pacer Suresh Dhanai who took 4-15, and former national youth all-rounder Linden Austin, 4-42. In reply, YWCC made 141 for 5 off 29.4 overs, with Royan Fredericks 46, Austin 34 and Alex Algoo 24. Andrews returned to bag took 2 for 27, for Edinburgh.

At Port Mourant, Edinburgh suffered their second loss to Tucber Park by 10 wickets. Batting first, they were shot out for 63 with former national youth pacer Niall Smith ripping through the batting order, taking 5 for 30 off 9 overs, and Chetram Persaud 3 for 10. In reply, Tucber Park knocked off the runs without losing a wicket.
