As investigations continue into the shooting to death of West Ruimveldt resident, Paul Rodney which occurred earlier this week, a man who is nursing a gunshot injury to his leg along with a female staffer from a city pharmacy were yesterday arrested for questioning.
This is according to Crime Chief, Wendell Blanhum who said that the police are also pursuing two other suspects, one of whom is a known character.
The police acting on intelligence yesterday morning went to a house in East Ruimveldt where they arrested a male who is nursing a gunshot injury. He appeared to have been treating the wound himself with antibiotics which were allegedly provided to him by a female who works in a city pharmacy.
The female, Blanhum said was also detained for questioning since she failed to report the matter after the suspect visited the pharmacy.
The man has since admitted to the police that he was present during the shooting but investigators were up to last evening working to determine if he was just an eyewitness or one of the gunmen.
They both remain in custody as the investigation into the matter continues.
Rodney, 31, of Lot 530 West Ruimveldt, George-town was gunned down early Monday morning while he was returning home from a dance held in his community.
He was shot seven times about his body including once to his chest and was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he died 30 minutes later while receiving medical attention.
Several spent shells from a small-calibre weapon were discovered at the scene.
The police in a statement had said that investigations into the incident have revealed that police ranks on a mobile patrol heard several explosions and went to investigate. They came upon a group of men running, during which several more gunshots were fired; Rodney was later seen lying motionless covered in blood.
This newspaper was told that Rodney was shot after he and the suspects were involved in an argument at a dance held at Avocado Avenue, West Ruimveldt which later led to an altercation. He reportedly attempted to escape, but was pursued and shot. His assailants reportedly made good their escape on a CG motorcycle.
