Dear Editor,
It speaks volumes of Guyana’s sport department when a sport administrator has to attempt a hundred mile walk in order to raise funds for his association to send a team abroad. While I applaud the grit and determination of the President of the Guyana Boxing Association, I still have to ask where we are going as a nation. Why still the scant regard for sport that an association has to resort to ‘hand-faring’ in the streets. Not any association but boxing, which has brought this country so much glory. This would never have happened in the time of Forbes Burnham. Never ever. In the words of Buju Banton, “It’s not an easy road.”
Yours faithfully,
Robert Trim
