CHITTAGONG, Bangladesh, CMC– West Indies opener Dwayne Smith led a solid batting display to help Chittagong Vikings seal a 78-run win over Barisal Bulls in the 24th match of the Bangladesh Premier League on Tuesday.
Smith top scored with 69 from 77 balls to power Vikings to 185 for five after they opted to bat at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury stadium.
He put on 43 in 5.4 overs for the first wicket with his captain Tamim Iqbal who struck a run-a-ball 19.
Smith’s innings contained six fours and three sixes and was ended by Thisara Perera in the 16th over, caught at deep midwicket.
Shoaib Malik ensured a strong finish for Vikings, losing his wicket off the final ball of the innings for a 30-ball 63.
Mohammed Nabi led the bowling with three wickets for 16 runs from three overs, including the openers in the second over of the chase, as Bulls collapsed for 107 in 18.4 overs.
Number eight batsman Enamul Haque top scored with an unbeaten 42 as Bulls reeled at 12 for four before stumbling to 39 for seven.
Trinidad and Tobago allrounder Rayad Emrit shared a fifth wicket stand of 25 with Mushfiqur Rahim for Bulls, after picking up a wicket for 41 runs.
