Two men were yesterday arrested in connection with the discovery of an unlicensed semi-automatic pistol at East La Penitence.
Acting on information received, a Guyana Police Force statement said, ranks went to the home of a 52-year-old vendor at East La Penitence Squatting Area and conducted a search in his presence, during which the illegal weapon was found. The suspect alleged that it was given to him by a cousin, who when contacted admitted same, the statement added. Both men were arrested.
Ballistic tests will be conducted to determine if the weapon was used in the commission of any crime, the police further said.
