Toronto Lions and Queens Park Hockey Club secured lopsided wins in the Men’s Division when the Diamond Mineral Water Indoor Hockey Festival continued on Friday.
Lions mauled Carib Hockey Club of Trinidad and Tobago 10-1 at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue. Jonathan Roberts scored five (glut) times while Shane Rajaran bagged two goals.
Siblings Micah and Devohn Texeira, as well as Satnam Dosanjh completed the easy win with solitary strikes.
Jael St. Louis was on target in the loss.The Canadian outfit also dismantled Old Fort by
a 5-0 scoreline. Roberts and Rajaraman bagged a brace each, while Dosanjh completed the scoreline.
Similarly, Queens Park Hockey Club of Trinidad and Tobago crushed Ball Wash Ers of the United States of America (USA) 11-2.
Akim Toussant recorded a helmet-trick while Jordan Vieira and Darren Cowie scored a hat-trick and a double respectively.
Completing the result were Dominic Young and Jerazeno Bell.
On target in the loss were Rishi Bhagava and Jesse Larson.
Also, Ball Wash Ers dismissed Avengers 4-1. Dean Schiller, Rishi Bhargava, Yannick van Bavel and Jugwinder Mahal netted in the rout while Meshach Sargeant scored in the loss.
In the Women’s Section, Toronto Toros overcame Woodpecker Hikers 4-3. Kaelan Watson and Danica Jayme recorded doubles for the Toros.
For the losers, Nicole Eastman, Krizia Layne and Alana Lewis netted. In the second fixture of the division, Pizza Hut Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) crushed Old Fort 4-0 compliments of a Sonia Jardine helmet-trick.
In the Veteran’s section, Old Fort edged Malvern Hockey Club of Trinidad and Tobago by a 5-3 scoreline, while Hikers squeaked past Carib of Trinidad and Tobago 3-2.
The divisional finals will be staged today at the same venue from 17:00hrs.
