Kevon Jawahir cracked an unbeaten 150 and snatched 10 wickets, steering Blairmont Cricket Club to a massive 235-run win over Bush Lot in the only first round match of the two day first division cricket competition for teams in Berbice.
Playing at Blairmont Estate Ground, the home team amassed 307 all out in their first innings, as Jawahir racked up156 with 26 fours and two sixes. Support came from National Under-19 opener Zameer Inshan with 37, while National youth opener Javid Karim chipped in with 23.
Bowling for Bush Lot, R Thakarran snared 2 for 32, and Captain Rajbance Hemraj picked up 2 for 43.
Bush Lot were skittled out for 115, with A. Mathabeek offering some resistance with 25, following an onslaught from Jawahir who returned with figures 5 for 26, Shabeer Baksh (2-18) and Derrick McAlmont (2-21).
Batting a second time, Blairmont declared on 188 for 9, with B. Jaikarran (4-35) and C. Harry (3-66) doing the damage. After trailing by 192 runs, Bush Lot were then mowed down for 145, despite a resilient 69 from Mathabeek. Jawahir claimed his second five-for of the match, to finish with overall figures of 10 for 62.
In the lone game played in the Tenelec Inc. 50 Overs First Division Cricket Competition, Blairmont C C whipped the other Bush Lot team by 53 runs.
Batting first, Blairmont were kept to 119, with Seon Glasgow scoring 42, as C McKenzie finished with 2-22 bowling for Bush Lot.
Bush Lot were then bundled out for 66, with the all-rounder Jawahir continuing his form by taking 4 for 7, while left-arm spinner Waqar Hassan grabbed 3 for 16, and Derrick McAlmon 3 for 22.
