A date was yesterday set for a ruling in the trial of Pattensen businesswoman Sharlene Oxley, who is charged with human trafficking.
The charge against Oxley, 51, states that she recruited, transported, and harboured a woman for the purpose of sexual exploitation.
Police Prosecutor Neville Jeffers presented closing submissions before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in Georgetown yesterday.
Last Friday, Oxley’s attorney, Dexter Todd, also presented closing submissions where he urged the court to not find his client guilty of the crime as he argued that the evidence led against her did not substantiate the charge.
Subsequent to the submissions made by the prosecutor, the matter was yesterday adjourned to December 22 for ruling.
