Transport Sports Club (TSC), Police, Everest and GNIC advanced to the semi-finals of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) Noble House Seafoods 2nd division two-day tournament, following wins yesterday.
At Eve Leary Ground, Police made 360 replying to Malteenoes’ first innings of 245, with Steven Harris leading from the front with a composed 146 while Jason McAlmont and Paul Tyndall scored 44.
Bowling for Malteenoes, Shaquille Moseley picked up three wickets while Kellon Carmichael grabbed two as their team ended on 49-3 at close of play.
Over at Everest, the home side after resuming on 368/7, were bowled out for 387 with Khemraj Ramdeen (97), Dwayne Adams (63) and West Indies U19 selectee Bhaskar Yadram (58) starring with the bat.
Dennis Squires picked up three wickets while Linden Lyght and all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford claimed two each for DCC who declared on 213-9.
Raymond Perez (35), Sachin Singh (48) and Tevin Imlach (39) were the main scorers as Adams and Saeed Mohammed bagged four wickets each for Everest.
At the Camp Ayanganna Ground, GDF were bowled down for 71 thanks to off-spinner Gajanan Suknanan who claimed 5-28 and Rawle Merrel who ended with two scalps.
GNIC batting again after racking up a first innings 325-9 declared, made 223-8 declared with Ovid Richardson following up his first innings 121 with a second innings knock of 100 before retiring hurt.
Premchand Sookdeo scored 61 in support of Richardson as Randy Lindore snapped up three wickets while Dennis Legay supported with two wickets bowling for GDF.
After acquiring first innings points,TSC beat Muslim Youth Organization (MYO) by an innings and 108 runs.
TSC scored 266-10 in their first innings with Devaughn Nadan scoring 97 while Charwayne McPherson (37), Sunil Singh (52), Azeem Azeez (29) were the other contributors.
- Ishmile 4-39 and T. Arjune 2-29 were the standout bowlers for MYO who could only muster 51 all out following the damage from Keon Morris 5-36 and Kevin Ross 3-8.
After TSC enforced the follow-on, MYO were 53-6 batting again and trailing by 215 runs, they were eventually bowled out for 107 with Steven Sankar resisting with 31. Joshua Wilson was the chief tormentor ending with 7-24 and Morris 1-14, ripping through the batting order.
GNIC will now lock horns with Everest in the first semi-final while Police will look to arrest the boys from TSC in the second semi.
