A 33-year-old man who operates a Chinese restaurant and bar at Main and Chapel streets, New Amsterdam was yesterday placed on $75,000 bail when he appeared at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Alex Moore charged with wounding.
Kim Sing, who was represented by Attorney Naomi Christie in association with Mursalin Bacchus, pleaded not guilty to the charge of felonious wounding.
It was alleged that Sing wounded Osarin Stuart, 17, on November 29.
Stuart, a dog food vendor of Fort Ordnance Housing Scheme and the accused reportedly had an altercation over Stuart selling dog food in front of the restaurant.
The police had stated that Stuart armed himself with a piece of wood during the argument, but subsequently dropped it and was in the process of walking away, when the accused allegedly picked it up and dealt him several lashes to his head and left leg.
Stuart, who was present in court yesterday, had been taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, then transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was admitted for a short while. The case was adjourned to December 13, for filing of statements.
