A Craig, East Bank Demerara (EBD) man is battling for his life at a city hospital after being involved in an early morning accident at Herstelling (EBD). The accident occurred shortly after 6 am.
The injured man Dave Prashad, 27, of 374, Craig Public Road is currently a patient in the intensive care unit at the Dr. Balwant Singh Hospital.
His sister Devi Prashad told Stabroek News he was making his way to visit his grandmother who is also hospitalised at the Dr. Balwant Singh Hospital when a bus collided with his vehicle.
Devi explained to Stabroek News she is still unclear on the details of the accident but the driver, she said, told police he swerved from an object and collided with her brother who was travelling on the western carriageway.
When she got to the scene, she observed that the car in which her brother was travelling was mangled and he was pinned inside.
Efforts by first responders were fruitless and the Guyana Fire Service was called in. The firemen freed him and he was rushed immediately to the hospital.
He suffered injuries to his head, a broken ankle, broken ribs, a punctured lung and other internal wounds.
