High Stars pounced on Amelia’s Ward Panthers by a 3-1 score line when the 4th Annual GT Beer Football Championship continued on Wednesday evening at the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) ground in Linden.
James Trotman gave High Stars the perfect start as, he found the back of the net in the seventh minute. The scoreline then ballooned to 2-0 in the 37th minute, as Trotman fashioned his second conversion.
Upon the resumption of the contest, Michael Peters further added to High Stars lead, compliments of a 50th minute strike. Keshawn Dey eventually recorded a consolation goal in the 74th minute. Due to the win, High Stars walked away with three points. On the other hand, the losers left empty handed. Meanwhile, Eagles and Net-rockers battled to a 0-0. With the result, both teams walked away with a point.
The tournament which is being contested initially in a round-robin format, resumes on December 14th,, at the same venue with another doubleheader.
Group-A consists of Winners Connections, Amelia’s Ward, Botofago, Blue Berry Hill and High Stars while group-B features Silver-Shattas, Netrockers, Eagles, Milerock and Kwakwani Strikers.
Upon the conclusion of the group stage, the event will progress to the elimination round.
