The developer of the seven-storey building at the junction of Camp and Robb streets is aiming to complete construction early next year.
Rizwan Khan told Stabroek News last week that he has received all the necessary building approvals from the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) and the Mayor and City Council (M&CC) to complete the building.
In July, the businessman had to halt construction on the seventh floor after the CH&PA and M&CC denied his application to proceed.
Khan was fearful that if he did not receive the approvals, he would have lost a huge investment that he said would bring jobs and significant revenues. Khan was pushing for the construction of the seventh floor since it was a requirement of the investor, who plans to set up a call centre that he said would provide jobs for 2,500 persons.
The building would also house a food court and a mini-mall.
According to Khan, he spent over $1 million to conduct tests on the foundation and have a structural drawing to prove that the building could handle an additional floor. He noted that the results of the tests were submitted along with his applications. Khan pointed out that from the tests carried out, he can build up to eight floors but he only applied to add another floor after it was requested by the investor.
