A doctor attached to the Suddie Public Hospital died on Friday evening after he reportedly lost control of his brand new motorycycle and slammed into a bench along the Vilvoorden Public Road, Essequibo Coast.
Dead is 25-year-old Haimant Haimraj. The accident occurred around 10.30 pm on Friday.
While it is unclear where Haimraj was heading at the time of the accident, Stabroek News understands that he was riding the motorcycle along the public road when he lost control and slammed into a concrete bench.
As a result of the accident, he sustained severe injuries to his head and other parts of his body and was rushed to the Suddie Hospital where he succumbed while receiving medical attention.
Information reaching this newspaper revealed that Haimraj purchased the motorcycle three days prior to his death unknowing to his mother.
Haimraj was a Cuba-trained doctor who returned to Guyana two years ago.
