Dear Editor,
The late Diane McTurk should be honoured by past and present governments, the Tourism and Hospitality Association of Guyana and the tourism sector of Guyana as a whole.
She should be considered iconic for her dedication, commitment and sterling contribution over the years in relation to orphaned giant river otters as well as the tourism industry.
She is irreplaceable and I worry so much about what will happen to the giant river otters for which she cared for so many years.
The very sad part for me as a private advocate for tourism is that I was never fortunate to cross path, though we were under the same umbrella in terms of our work.
I choose to remember her in good spirits for the work she represented. My memory of her is one where she is smiling and clutching in her arms a giant river otter.
Yours faithfully,
T Pemberton
