A Japanese grant will see the construction of a skills development centre in Waramadong Village in the Upper Mazaruni, Region Seven and over 650 young people in the district are expected to benefit.
On Wednesday, GINA said that Toshao of Waramadong Village, Clyde Henry received the grant assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects from the Government of Japan. A signing ceremony was held between the Toshao and Japan’s Ambassador Mitsuhiko Okada at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs boardroom.
Henry noted that the US$69,739 grant will allow for the live – in secondary and primary school children in the community and nearby villages to benefit from skills training such as boat building, outboard engine repairs, forestry, carpentry, wood work products, and small business management.
