Dear Editor,
Much has been written in the past about the harmful effects and noise nuisance created by the explosion of firecrackers. This is very prevalent on Old Year’s Night and the night of Deepavali observances.
The sensible public have been clamouring for a ban on these items. There have been many half-hearted attempts by the relevant authorities to stem the importation of these horror sticks.
In many cases these vendors vend these items openly on the pave. Everyone else would notice these sellers except the police, but even when they do notice, they do nothing about it.
Our poor pets suffer tremendously from these explosions; complaints from the sick and elderly mean nothing. Old Year’s Night is like Armageddon for those who enjoy peace and tranquility.
Could the police say what steps are being taken to battle this controllable menace?
Yours faithfully,
