Black Pearl FC and Uitvlugt Warriors secured contrasting wins over Pele FC and Order and Discipline when the Turbo Energy Drink sponsored Fruta Conquerors U19 Academy League continued on Thursday.
It was the third win for dark-horse Black Pearl who squeaked past Pele FC by a 1-0 score line at the Tucville Community ground. Due to the win, Black Pearl climb onto nine points and remain in the third position in the Zone-A points table.
For Pele, it was their second defeat and they remain in the fifth position on two points. Both teams have one more game remaining in the group stage.
In another fixture, Uitvlugt Warriors ended their round-robin campaign with a win after gaining a walkover from Order and Discipline.
It was the fourth consecutive loss for Order and Discipline who failed to take the playing area, in the process awarding the point to the West Demerara unit.
Uitvlugt now sits atop the Zone-A standings with 11 points while Order and Disicpline remain in the cellar position without a point.
The event resumes tomorrow at the same venue with another doubleheader.
In the opening fixture at 14:00hrs, Order and Discipline will oppose Pele FC while Fruta Conquerors will battle Black Pearl at 16:00hrs.
