Northern Rangers and Den Amstel defeated Young Achievers and Kuru-Kururu Warriors respectively Friday at the National Track and Field Facility, Leonora, to advance to the next round of the Stag Nations Cup football tournament.
The Kitty-based Northern Rangers outfit blasted their way past Young Achievers 7-0 margin with Steven Sankar scoring in the third and 55th minute while Tefon Daly, Devon Caesar, Stephon Reynolds, Colin Clark and Sunil Logan netted in the 23rd, 46th, 57th, 60th and 83rd minute respectively.
In the other matchup, Den Amstel downed Kuru-Kururu Warriors 4-2. Gavin Graham in the 27th and 71st minute and Kevaughn Ward in the 31st and 72nd minute, were the goal scorers.
For the losing side, Oliver Denny and Collin Messiah netted in the 44th and 48th minute correspondingly. The championship resumes today at the Tucville ground with a doubleheader.
At 18:30hrs, Santos will lock horns with Herstelling Raiders while Western Tigers will match skills with Flamingo FC at 20:30hrs.
