Three dancers at a popular nightclub were yesterday charged with over forged entries in their passports and overstaying their time in Guyana.
Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan heard that Stephanie Herrera, 25, Cynthia De La Rosa, 29, and S Diaz, 25, all of the Dominican Republic, conspired with persons known or unknown with intend to defraud, between November 17 and December 15, to forge Guyana Immigration Service arrival and departure stamps in their Dominican Republic passports, purporting that same were issued by the Central Immigration and Passport Office knowing same to be false. De La Rosa, Herrera and Diaz pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The women were also read an additional charge which stated that they failed to comply with conditions subject to which permission had been granted to them to stay in Guyana between October 12 and December 15, and they overstayed that time. The women also npleaded not guilty to this charge.
Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones strongly opposed the women being released on bail, since they have no ties to Guyana. He told the court that the women might try to flee the jurisdiction before trial.
Herrera, De La Rosa and Diaz were represented by attorney Mark Waldron who maintained that if granted bail they will return for their court date.
The magistrate released the women on $40,000 bail each and transferred to the case to night court for December 28.
