Hi-Stars and Silver Shattas secured hard-fought wins over Blueberry Hill and Net-rockers respectively when the Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA)/GT Beer Football Championship continued on Sunday.
Played at the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) ground, Linden, Hi-Stars edged Blueberry Hill 3-2 under wet conditions.
Tony ‘Spirit’ Adams, Michael Peters and Kwesi Martin scored for the winning team in the 37th, 44th and 69th minute respectively. For the losers, Oral Peters and Rondell Arthur netted in the 46th and 59th minute correspondingly.
Meanwhile, Silver Shattas downed Netrockers FC 2-0. Colwyn Drakes recorded a brace on either side of halftime in the 23rd and 88th minute. The event resumes today at the same venue with another group stage doubleheader.
In the opening fixture at 18:00hrs, three time defending champion Federal Winners Connection tackle Botofago while Kwakwani Strikers battle Eagles United from 20:00hrs.
