Western Tigers and Santos are through to the quarterfinals following wins over Flamingo and Herstelling Raiders respectively when the Stag Nations Cup continued Sunday.
Played at the Tucville ground, Western Tigers roared past Flamingo 8-0. Andre Webber opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a first time strike into the top left corner, after collecting a pass while racing into the top of the box.
Dwayne Lowe increased the lead in the 34th minute, wriggling between two defenders inside the right of the box before firing his effort into the lower left corner.
Following the resumption of play, Randolph Wagner made it 3-0 in the 55th minute, stabbing home from the centre of the box after an initial shot was deflected into his path.
Wagner made his presence felt once more in the 67th minute, completing his double with a finish into the right corner during a one-on- one situation, after latching onto a through pass.
Rensford Coleridge got into the scoring act in the 72nd minute as his lobbed effort from the left flank slipped through the hands of the goalkeeper and into the net.
It went from bad to worse for Flamingo as Mario St. Clair was issued with a red card in the 80th minute for using abusive language towards the official.
With the match already decided, the West Ruimveldt unit recorded a further three goals through Shamar Wilson, Darren and Anthony Sancho in the 83rd, 85th and 88th minute respectively.
Meanwhile, 10-member Santos downed Herstelling Raiders 4-0. Keith Caines scored a first half double in the seventh and 32nd minute while Orin Yarde completed his brace in his 14th and 78th minute. The win was marred after Trevor Lewis was red carded in the 25th minute.
The event will resume tomorrow at the Den Amstel ground. In the opening fixture at 18:00hrs, Uitvlugt will oppose Northern Rangers while Pouderoyen will tackle Mahaica Determinators at 20:00hrs.
