No ‘bash’ from Caribbean trio

SYDNEY, Australia, CMC – Three players with ties to the Caribbean failed to make a big impact on the latest game in the Big Bash League yesterday.

Kieron Pollard
Samuel Badree

Barbados-born England all-rounder Chris Jordan and West Indies Twenty20 star Kieron Pollard failed with the bat, if not the ball, as the Adelaide Strikers tumbled to a 10-run defeat against Brisbane Heat – with West Indies leg-spinner Samuel Badree in the line-up – at the Adelaide Oval. Jordan was dismissed off the final delivery of the match for one, the same score that Pollard made, as the Strikers failed to successfully chase 207 for victory.

Badree was the most economical, if not successful Heat bowler in four overs that cost 20, but Jordan and Pollard had far more success.

Pollard was the pick of the Strikers bowlers, taking 2-27 from his allotted four overs, and Jordan grabbed 2-29 from three overs, as the Heat piled up 206 for five from their allocation of 20 overs, after they were put in to bat. The Caribbean trio of Jordan, Pollard and Badree also did their part in the outfield, holding four catches between them.

Another trio of Caribbean players – Andre Russell, Dwayne Bravo and Sunil Narine – are scheduled to be involved in today’s match between Melbourne Renegades and Sydney Thunders at the Docklands in Melbourne.
