This taxi plunged into a trench at Turkeyen early yesterday morning, after swerving to avoid other vehicles that were part of a traffic build-up on the public road.
According to the driver, Ray (only name given), of HC 5312, a cab registered with Pretty Posse Cabs, he was heading to the city after a drop off, when he noticed a build-up in the traffic.
Ray said he saw a minibus and a truck stalled on the roadway, and applied brakes. However, because of the wet road conditions, and “oil from the truck that was parked,” he was unable to stop in time and swerved to avoid colliding with any other vehicle, and landed in the trench.
Ray explained that after the accident he was told that oil was dripping from the truck, and the driver had stopped to check for the possible source.
Meanwhile, a report that the truck driver had been struck down by the minibus was later refuted by police who stated that no one had suffered any severe injuries.
